Supporting local business owners is the University District Business Alliance. This organization has the motto "Shop the University District First." Vision Statement:The University District Business Alliance exists to preserve and improve the quality of life for those people who work, shop, and visit businesses in the Highland /Walker area. The neighborhoods included in this area are; Normal Station, Messick Buntyn, East Buntyn Historic District, Joffre Area Civic Association, Red Acres, University Area Neighborhood Coalition, and Sherwood Forrest. Upon achievement of measurable accomplishment in its initial neighborhood of Highland and Walker, it is the intention of the UDBA to expand its efforts as needed. Ultimate ambitions include a renovated and actively cooperative business area stretching from Poplar on the North to Park on the South. To read more, click here.
